Photos and identities of a baby boy and six members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as ‘Shiites’ killed in Zaria, Kaduna state, during their annual “Ashura Day” procession – a religious ritual, have been revealed. “Security Forces fired live ammunition on mourners in Zaria after the closing prayer of Ashura Mourning Procession. Security forces opened fire on mourners on their way back to their various destinations. A baby boy was instantly killed with six others,” a member of IMN told SaharaReporters.

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated the newly retired service chiefs as non-career ambassadors-designate.
In a letter to the senate, Buhari said: “In accordance with section 171 (1), (2) (c) & sub-section (4) of 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the under-listed five (5) names of nominees as Non-Career Ambassadors-Designate.

The International Criminal Court has said that the matter of the trial of the outgone Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai; former Chief of Defence Chief, General Abayomi Olonisakin; former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas; and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, is with its prosecutor.
The ICC stated this on Thursday evening in a mail sent to SaharaReporters by its Spokesperson, Fadi El-Abdallah.
