Khammam Cop Wins International Marathon medals Mar 14, 2021, 12:42 IST An Armed Reserve Police constable, Pilli Raju, attached to the Khammam Police Commissionerate headquarters, has been bringing international fame to the Khammam police by winning international marathon medals. He made the best use of the sports meets that have gone virtual during the Covid-19 pandemic and participated in the recent international marathon events of South America and North America and won medals. Virtual marathons are events that allow participants to run anywhere in the world in compliance with the event guidelines with the help of a mobile application. The participants have to upload screenshots of their run’s starting point and finishing point on to the app. Based on the time taken to finish the run, the participants will be presented with medals. In a half marathon, the runner has to cross a distance of 21 km within three hours of time to win the medal.

Two policemen waylaid, thrashed in Dharwad Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA In a bizarre incident, two police personnel attached to the Armed Reserve Police were beaten up by three persons, who were allegedly inebriated, in Dharwad. The incident occurred on late on Friday night at Itigatti Cross on the Hubballi-Dharwad bypass road. The injured policemen, Nagesh Byatgeri and Uday Bhandari of Uppinbetageri, who were initially treated at the district civil hospital, were shifted to a private hospital on Saturday. They were returning home on their motorcycle when three unidentified persons waylaid them and thrashed them. Both have sustained serious injuries to their face and head. The Dharwad Rural police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the trio who beat the policemen up.

COVID: 1,150 police personnel vaccinated on the first day

Updated: Share Article AAA As many as 1,150 police personnel from the district police were administrated COVID-19 vaccine on the first day of vaccination programme to police at AR headquarters and other places, here on Wednesday. Earlier, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Armed Reserve Police, R.P.S. Shanthi Kumar, inaugurated the COVID-19 vaccination centre for the AR police personnel. To inject confidence among the police personnel, he took the first shot at the camp. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shanthi Kumar said that police should ignore the rumours on vaccination. He said that even after vaccination, one should not forget to wear masks, maintaining social distancing and using sanitisers. Apart from the special vaccine camp, the vaccines were administered at PHCs and CHCs in the district.
