Long-time favorite The Grill at Leon Springs destroyed by fire, SAFD says FacebookTwitterEmail Investigators are trying to determine what started a 2-alarm fire that completely destroyed The Grill at Leon Springs Thursday morning.San Antonio Fire Department A fire destroyed a popular restaurant in Leon Springs early Thursday morning, taking with it a piece of casual dining history. San Antonio firefighters arrived to find The Grill at Leon Springs, located at 24100 Interstate 10 in northwest Bexar County, engulfed in flames and its chimney collapsed.  According to the San Antonio Fire Department, firefighters were forced to fight the fire from outside the building after a part of its roof collapsed. Firefighters knocked down the fire in less than 25 minutes but remained on the scene for several hours to keep it from flaring up.

Original story below: An overnight fire has left an area restaurant completely destroyed. Firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire at The Grill at Leon Springs around 12:45 a.m. to find the blaze through the roof of the restaurant and its chimney collapsed. While the fire was too far gone at the European-inspired eatery, firefighters were able to contain it so that it did not spread to the Rudy’s BBQ location next door, according to Joe Arrington, the San Antonio Fire Department’s public information officer. There was only a small walkway separating the two dining establishments.
