Exclusive: Armaan Rahlan on working with Jaideep Ahlawat in Ajeeb Daastaans

Ajeeb Daastaans is one of the hottest things to stream on social media recently. The anthology for four twisted stories about love had been trending in the country and needless to say that it has garnered a lot of praise for all the actors.
The first film in the anthology, Majnu, starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Armaan Rahlan got a lot of praise for all three actors. Armaan, who was earlier seen in Befikre, was very excited to be working with Jaideep on this one. Talking about the same, he told us, “When we shot our film, Pataal Lok hadn’t come out yet. But I had been a fan of Jaideep ever since Gangs of Wasseypur and then I saw Raazi, so in fact, he hadn’t said yet for the film but Fatima and I were confirmed. I was really eager and I was praying he would say yes for it.”

There is something about anthologies that I really like. It’s difficult to decide if it’s how the storytellers manage to express themselves in a short period of time but with greater impact, or how the short films come together beautifully as a whole. It’s also a difficult balance to maintain- one slightly off film can make you feel bored, or one odd placement can also ruin the experience. I have also wondered if it’s the ease of taking breaks in between, and letting the film and the story sink for sometime before I move on to the other, which may or may not hit with equal impact! Jaideep Ahlawat is known for his tough guy personas, strong personality and the intense characters that he pulls off with ease. However, even for a tough guy like him, his first reaction upon hearing the script of his latest film on Netflix - Ajeeb Daastaans - was TERROR! Shocking but true!
