The Arlington Heights Garden Club is now accepting applications from graduating high school seniors or college students from the Northwest suburbs who are or plan to pursue studies in Horticulture, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Conservation, Arboriculture, and similar studies.

Gardeners can get the growing season off to a good start with upcoming plant sales featuring perennials, vegetables, native and organic plants. It is also a good way to support local nonprofit organizations.

• The Arlington Heights Garden Club will host its annual plant sale from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, on the grounds of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Fremont St., Arlington Heights.

The Arlington Heights Garden Club will award two, $1,500 scholarships for students pursuing study in the fields of horticulture, botany, forestry, agriculture, marine biology or environmental sciences.
Related fields of interest will be given consideration. Extra credit is given if an applicant can demonstrate a working experience in the horticulture, floral, nursery or farming community.
