good morning. welcome to this special edition of cnn this morning. we are continuing our coverage of this temporary truce between israel and hamas and the expected release of more hostages today. my colleague, kaitlyn collins, is live in tel aviv and we ll have more from caitlyn in just a moment. this morning we are monitoring the situation in gaza and israel. this is day two of are this negotiated four-day truce and now we re watching for the release of the hostages being held by hamas. they re expected to free 14 israeli hostages, according to an israeli source. in exchange, israel is prepared to release up to 42 more prisoners today. cnn has learned no americans are to be freed today. they are freeing three palestinians for every israeli out of hostage situation. 13 israeli, 10 thai citizens, 1 filipino were in that first tranche of captives freed. this video was released by hamas. cnn, we should say, had no control over this content. four children were among those release
good to have you along. welcome to cnn this morning. it is saturday, november 25th. i m victor blackwell. i m isabel rosales. thank you for being with us this morning. we are waiting for the release of more hostages being held by hamas. meanwhile, we are seeing video of these family reunions. video here of 9-year-old o ohad munda, you see him running down the hall and jumping into his father s arms after seven weeks in captivity. he and his mother and grandmother were among the 24 hostages released yesterday. 13 israelis, ten thai citizens and one filipino were in that first group. this video was released by hamas. these hostages, they were immediately taken to hospitals near tel aviv for medical checkups. officials say they are in good condition, good physical condition. in return for the freed israeli hostages, israel released 39 palestinian prisoners. videos obtained show the crowd waiving palestinian and hamas flags and carrying the newly released prisoners through

congressional leaders may be stepping back from the brink of a government shutdown this month. a short time ago they announced an agreement on overall spending levels for this fiscal year. it s an important first step in averting a shutdown. we aren t out of the woods yet. cnn s arlett saenz is with us. what are you hearing from the white house? does it look like perhaps they re on their way to a deal? reporter: well, jim, president biden signed off of this law saying in a statement he believes it moves the country one step closer to a government shutdown. big questions still remain about whether they can actually get this funding bill written by that next deadline on january 19th. now house speaker mike johnson and senate majority leader chuck schumer negotiated this agreement landing on a $1.59 trillion spending level for fiscal year 2024. the breakdown comes to about $806 billion for defense spending and $704 billion for
ranking republican on the senate armed services committee who called it unacceptable and also said that it erodes trust in the biden administration. there is also over on the house side in the armed services committee over there, both the republican and democratic leaders on that committee have also expressed concerns about this. so certainly there are still a lot of questions to be answered over at the pentagon about what exactly delayed the disclosure of his hospitalization. we are learning a little bit tonight about what exactly sent him to the hospital. there are still other many details that we are still waiting to learn as well. arlett saenz. we talked to the former defense secretary leon panetta earlier this hour. he said it was a mistake for that notification not to come sooner but, again, the breaking news arlett was talking about, defense secretary was transported to walter reed after experiencing, quote, severe pain after an elective procedure and he was placed in had the
