SCOTTSDALE, AZ â The 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open tees-off this week in Scottsdale, marking one of the first large-scale events to go on despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Because of the pandemic, the tournament has been scaled back significantly daily attendance will be limited to 5,000, safety protocols will be in place, and most of the hospitality suites and entertainment that the tournament is known for, such as the Birds Nest, are not there this year.
The first few months of the year is prime events season in metro Phoenix, but with COVID-19 doing its best to ruin everything, it can be hard to keep track of what s actually going to take place.
To help, we ve put together a list of of events scheduled to happen between now and the end of April along with details about what s been canceled, postponed, or transformed to include virtual components. They re listed in alphabetical order to make it easy to find your favorites.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ â The Waste Management Phoenix Open anticipates having a limited number of fans at its scaled-down 2021 tournament in Scottsdale, though it is unclear at this stage how many fans will be allowed at the tournament.
The tournament confirmed Monday in a news release that it had begun construction on a one-story, open-air venue around the 16th Hole, which is famous for its coliseum-style seating and enthusiastic fans. Most of the other hospitality suites will not be part of the 2021 tournament due to COVID-19, the tournament previously announced.
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - COVID-19 event cancelations and rescheduling are starting to spill over into 2021 here in the Valley.
From the Renaissance Festival to Barrett Jackson auction, to the Rock-n-roll Marathon and others. Event after event is dropping off the calendar.
Runners will have to wait another year to strap-up their laces at the music-with-every-mile event, the Rock-n-Roll Arizona marathon is taking a hiatus until 2022.
Runners who signed up for the 2021 race will receive emails with more information.
Scheduled during that same weekend. The Barrett Jackson car auction is now pushing back itâs date from mid-January to the week of March 22, says CEO Craig Jackson.

As Arizona continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent uptick in cases, the pandemic s impact on events in 2021 is already underway. Some events have been canceled entirely, while others have been postponed, transitioned to virtual events, or haven t made an official decision yet.
