LA QUINTA, Calif. – Arizona Men s Golf will return to action for the first time since winning the Arizona Intercollegiate for a fourth consecutive year when it participates in The Prestige in Southern California beginning on Monday, Feb. 15. Arizona will look to carry its momentum from its victory in its last event as senior Brad Reeves won the individual championship in the team s home event last month. We are fortunate to be a part of this field that includes 24 teams, said head coach Jim Anderson. There are a lot of programs throughout the country trying to get into events like this one, and there is a lot of great competition in this field. Coming off a team win, as well as an individual win, our guys have a lot of confidence. We saw a lot of competition in qualifying this week, and I am excited to see our guys back on the course in Palm Springs.
Acknowledging that NCAA investigators found some former Arizona men s basketball staffers displayed serious lapses in judgment, the school announced Tuesday it has self-imposed a ban on the upcoming postseason.
In a penalty that could be accepted or added to by the NCAA s Independent Accountability Resolution Process in future months, the Wildcats will not play in the upcoming Pac-12 Tournament and, even if they qualify, the NCAA Tournament.
The Pac-12 issued a statement saying it recognizes and supports UA s self-imposed NCAA Tournament ban and would therefore keep the Wildcats out of the conference tournament under Pac-12 policy. A new bracket for the 11 remaining teams is to be announced.
