they say it will devastate arizona businesses already struggling in a bad economy. it can mean that people won t buy my pecans just like they didn t buy grapes and that would destroy our business and the incomes of 250 families. reporter: the arizona hotel and lodging association is also worried. don t make tourism the collateral damage of an issue. the harm is going to be on the employee s families for tourism. reporter: the fear is jobs and revenues will be lost in a boy cut over arizona s tough new immigration law, a law that still faces legal challenges before going into effect. that first lawsuit challenging the new law is expected to be filed in just a few hours. others will follow. then, there is those boycotts threatening arizona businesses. the controversial law is a bit of a loser for the mayor.

and with us from phoenix, debbie johnson. she is president and ceo of the arizona hotel and lodging association. debbie, good to see you as well. david, let me start with you. the city has already banned travel to arizona by city employees on city business. right. you want to go beyond that, don t you, and tell us why. sure. we want to follow the model that was followed about 20 years ago around the mlk holiday controversy when a number of us from other parts of the country boycotted the state. follow that model, we believe that it s not just travel that should be limited but that we as a city need to make sure that our taxpayer dollars are not spent in arizona or doing business with companies that are based in arizona. but let me be clear. this is not targeted at the people of the state of arizona. this is targeted at the leadership of the state of arizona, which passed this misguided law.
