THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Kansas sophomore Lauren Heinlein carded a one-over 73 (+1) to lead KU in the final round of the 2021 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship at The Club of Carlton Woods at The Woodlands, Texas, Tuesday. In a field that featured seven nationally-ranked teams, Kansas shot a 299 (+11) Tuesday and finished ninth at the championship with a three-round 890. Sixth-ranked Oklahoma State won the event with an 830 (-34). The Cowgirls dominated the three-day tournament and were 16 shots better than runner-up Texas Tech (-18). “We definitely didn’t end the season the way we had wanted to,” Kansas head coach Erin O’Neil said. “Our conference is extremely competitive but that doesn’t make finishing in last less difficult. There were certainly bright spots along the way but we need to eliminate the occasional high rounds that were also sprinkled in.”

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Kansas sophomore Abby Glynn carded a career-low round 68 (-4) on the second day of the 2021 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship at The Club of Carlton Woods at The Woodlands, Texas, Monday. As a team, Kansas improved one shot with a 295 (+7) for the second round. The Jayhawks are +15 for the two rounds and tied for eighth with Iowa State heading into Tuesday’s final round. Oklahoma State is running away from the field at -27, 16 shots ahead of second place Baylor and Oklahoma who are tied at -11. Glynn recorded six birdies in her second round, including birds on the final two holes. The Topeka, Kansas, native had three birdies on both the front and back nine. Her previous low was 71 set two times prior with the latest earlier this spring in the second round of the Clemson Invitational on March 27.

⛳️ Jayhawks Head to Big 12 Championship in The Woodlands, Texas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women’s golf will next compete at the 24th Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship, April 18-20 at The Club of Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. This is the 25th year the conference has existed but the 2020 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Big 12 Championship will consist of three rounds with 18 holes each day. Teams will play in threesomes beginning at 8 a.m. (CT). TCU and Kansas State will play alongside Kansas for the April 18 round. The second and third round pairings will be determined based on the previous round scores. There are nine teams that participate in Big 12 women’s golf – Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU and Texas Tech. For the Big 12 Championship, The Club of Carlton Woods measures 6,345 yards with a par 72 and it is a Tom Fazio Championship Course.
