1,505 policemen martyred in KP since 2000

PESHAWAR: As many as 1505 policemen were martyred in suicide attacks, blasts, target killings, ambushes and encounters while performing duty in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last 21 years.
On the other hand, 285 policemen had lost lives in different incidents in KP from 1970 till 1999. Some reports said the number was 246. The figure, however, suddenly increased manifold from 2000 to 2021.
“As many as 1,505 policemen were martyred in suicide attacks, bomb blasts, target killings, encounters and ambushes from 2000 to date,” Assistant Inspector General (AIG) (Coordination ) Arif Shahbaz Wazir told The News.
Those who were martyred during the last almost 12 years included two additional inspectors general of police (Ad IGs), two deputy inspectors general of police (DIGs), six superintendents of police (SPs), one SSP and 17 acting SPs or DSPs.
Mock exercise conducted at courts

PESHAWAR: A mock exercise was conducted to assess the security of the courts in the provincial capital on Sunday.
The Central Police Office had directed all the district police officer to re-assess the security of the court buildings in their areas so that no untoward incident happens.
The letter sent from the office of AIG Operations Arif Shahbaz Wazir stated that the DSP headquarters and SHO concerned will inspect the security of court buildings daily.
On Sunday, a mock exercise was carried out in the court buildings to check the level of alertness of the cops in case of any situation.
First Khassadar force member posted as SHO in DI Khan

PESHAWAR: Dera Ismail Khan Police on Wednesday posted a former member of the Khassadar tribal force as station house officer. It is the first such appointment in any settled district. Fawad Khan was posted as SHO at Band Kurai Police Station in Dera Ismail Khan.
“Fawad Khan, having a degree in civil engineering, was a former Khassadar who did well in the force in recent months. He is the first official of the erstwhile Khassadar force to have been posted as SHO in any settled district, said District Police Officer Arif Shahbaz Wazir.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The first passing-out parade of new police cadets hailing from Wana in South Waziristan was held at Pasban Park here on Tuesday.
The passing-out parade of 100 cops from Wana police was held by 145 Light Air Defense SP Regiment. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Yaseen Farooq, Commissioner Yahya Akhundzada, Deputy Commissioner Arifullah Awan , District Police Officer Arif Shahbaz Wazir, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Fazal Manan, senior civil and military officials and notables attended the ceremony.
Speaking as chief guest, Station Commander Brigadier Qasim Shahzad said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police rendered unprecedented sacrifices during the war against terror to maintain law and order in the province.
