groove they got into there was so profound. if that was something that was initiated by me, i can t think of one of the great things i ve done in my life. i ll take full credit. we were getting ready to record the next album, and we get this phone call that arif can t be involved in this album. robert chose to take the organization away from atlantic records and go private. atlantic, who were not happy about that said, well, we re not using arif anymore. we have to produce it. i said, what about the next album? i said, who do you think can continue where you left off? i got a call from barry, and he said, i want my studio time back, and i want to work with you.
