In January, the US military said there were about 4,700 Pentagon contractors in Afghanistan that were hired locally. Unsurprisingly, the Taliban has threatened many of the Afghan contractors that have been supporting the US war effort. Speaking to Afghanistan’s Tolo News, the contractors said they are calling on the Biden administration to take them out of Afghanistan and grant them asylum in either the US or Europe.

CM directs authorities to improve management of Darul Amans National April 18, 2021 PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the high-ups of the Social Welfare Department to come up with proposals within 15 days in order to streamline and improve the overall management of Darul Amans across the province with the aim to make them fully functional and ensure the availability of the required amenities therein. He said it was the responsibility of the department to ensure the provision of quality facilities and safe environment to the helpless women and children living in Darul Amans. He was chairing a meeting regarding Darul Amans here the other day. The meeting reviewed the existing situation of Darul Aman across the province with a special focus on the provision of basic facilities, implementation of SOPs and other day-to-day management issues.

Remains of 16 coal-miners buried in Shangla amid grief

National April 11, 2021 BISHAM: The remains of the 16 coalminers were buried in their respective graveyards in Shangla district amid grief and mourning on Saturday. The collective funeral prayers were held after their bodies were transported by the Rescue 1122 ambulances to Shangla following their recovery from Kala Chaphar area in Kohat district. Besides PTI provincial ministers Shaukat Ali Yousufzai and Arif Ahmadzai, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Muqam and officials of district administration and a large number of people attended the funeral prayers held at Shangla’s main town and headquarters, Alpuri. Talking to the media, Shaukat Yousufzai and Arif Ahmadzai expressed profound grief over the tragic incident and assured that every help would be extended to the bereaved families.
