Defuniak Springs firefighters extinguish house fire, American Red Cross responds

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS About 5 p.m. Saturday evening, firefighters from the city of DeFuniak Springs responded to a residential house fire.
They made entry into the residence quickly extinguished the fire preserving the home from further catastrophic fire and water damage, a press release from the city said.
The fire is not under further investigation by the state fire marshall’s office and was ruled an accident.
The American Red Cross is offering assistance to the family. No residents or firefighters were injured as a result of the blaze.
DeFUNIAK SPRINGS Walton County Fire Rescue and the Argyle Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at a home off Sherwood Road in DeFuniak Springs on Thursday afternoon.
All of the residents made it out of the home safely, a Facebook post by Walton County Fire Rescue said.
Early indications are that the fire originated in the fireplace and spread into a wall inside the house, the post said. Firefighters were able to isolate the flames to the wall around the fireplace and worked to keep the fire from spreading throughout the home.
