Is i went to washington to help dad settle in his new office being vacated by one senator prescott bush, georges father. We met again when we left washington and they had sold their home to a brand spanking new congressman named george bush. So george and barbara and mom and pop did that sale on a handshake. Sound familiar . Then i came to the senate in 1978 and soon after that ronald ra reagan cornered me and asked me to support him for president. I said, i would, not knowing that my friend george would enter the fray. Hearing that i called and said, george, i want to tell you that id love the help, but i already committed to ronald reagan. Georges response, well, alan, i am sorry about that, i probably should have let you know sooner. And actually a guy doesnt get many calls
