$1.6 trillion in tax hikes on corporations and the wealthy. that s double the amount that the house speaker john boehner reportedly offered last year. gerri willis from fox business network is covering this. you know, republics don t have a lot of say here, frankly, because these aren t hikes, really, they were tax cuts that were put into place and they are going to expire because republicans said they would expire. that was the law. they can t stop it? that was the law. here is what is going on. speaker john boehner had a press conference in which he said he was hopeful finding some common ground with the president. here is what he said. there is a lot of issues on the table that have to be resolved by the end of the year. and i think i have laid out a reasonable framework where both parties can work together. and i m looking forward to going down to the white house on friday and beginning that conversation. behind closed doors though speaker of the house told congressional
