and just haven t had a place to express it. susan, the numbers are overwhelming when it comes to evangelical support for the president. do you think this can change things? i think what it represents is an opportunity for that voting bloc maybe not to all come out in support of donald trump. they may not vote for the democrat, but they may stay home, which is a big concern for any republican running for president. so, that could be certainly if donald trump. the other thing that is really por important about this opinion piece is that it recognizes the fact that donald trump, i want to leave the morality question out of it. what he did was wrong. he defied the constitution and he should be held accountable. because every time you don t hold him accountable, he thinks he got away with something. i m really tired of hearing all these people who said, donald trump. i don t like this or that. but i got judges. at some point you have to say, judges aren t enough.
in particular. one democratic lawmaker, and they said, they have the president s words, the president s words aren t enough. they don t need someone like john bolt ton confirm what they heard the president say themselves? right. the point of view with house democrats that we ve talked to extensively with this. they say they have all of the facts that they need to make the case. now the public fact-finding portion of this is now over. house staff committee members have not announced any more hearings. they ve not announced any additional closed-door depositions. as the house intelligence committee next week spends that week, we re today, likely writing a report that they will hand off to the house judiciary committee. if, let s say, john bolton or mick mulvaney, or pick your name who is key who has not cooperated, house democrats say if any one of those men has a
no question about it, and that s why they did what they did.am the democrats know it s unfair, it s absurd to impeach a president in secret. they have always known that. and they were betting the american people were too stupid to care or too dumb to notice. laura: may have the veil of transparency now, we re going to open it up. what exactly are they opening up? what? very little. but are they going toat do? how do they go back and recreate seven weeks of secret hearings? how do they go back and fix that? and i suppose they are going to have some in open session now, but are they going to bring in the same witnesses and ask the sesame questions? as we said earlier, the transcripts aren t enough. you need to see these witnesses. laura: it s like putting a prom dress on a corpse and then taking her to homecoming and saying she is going to become queen. this is ridiculous at this point. spoofing, as serious as this is, this has become a farce and a comedy show. i was going to say

one of the first people to realize that. people have to fall in line sooner or later. but, rick, if the transcript of the phone call isn t enough, if the text messages aren t enough, if the very public plea to china to investigate a political opponent is not enough, what will it take for republicans to be outraged at the president s actions? john, what we know about this president, what we know about the republican members of the senate in particular is they are terrified of this man. they are terrified of his mob. they are terrified of his tweeting. they are terrified if he says something about them, they ll get a primary opponent or something worse will happen to them. they have lived under this cloud for three years now where donald trump s word is law, and so, look, senator flake was correct when he said there s a good number of people he thought it was 30. i think it s probably around 25 that in a secret ballot would vote to impeach donald trump and convict him. really?
