so criminal indictments remain under seal. it means they are not public until the point where the defendant is arrested at which point the prosecutors will submit an order to unseal that indictment so that the charges of in public. once he is arrested or once he voluntarily surrenders which is more likely, at that point the prosecutors would submit that order and we would get to see what the charges looked like. harry lippman, the whole point of the first announcement that he made about the manhattan indictment was telling people to come from all 50 states to just descend on men and to protest, show what an outrage this is. they did not come, they did not come to florida, they really aren t gonna come to washington, d.c., so maybe he has learned there is no value in tipping us off ahead of time? to me maybe he s learned,
come to florida, they really aren t gonna come to washington, d. c., so maybe he has learned there is no value in tipping us off ahead of time? to me maybe he s learned it, and they certainly will not come to washington, d. c.. but he is making it sort of a campaign platform that everybody is going after him. so it would be perverse or contrary to type, but of course he s got his perverse side. there s a lot of scrutiny, a lot of pressure. i see your point, i see christie s point. somehow i think that before the judge actually unseals it we ll be pretty darn sure what s going on. the important point though is that the thing we have been waiting for is evidence that he is met with the prosecutors, which is he would ve gotten an invitation to do maybe by zoom or he could say he s not doing. but he typically talks about
confirmed by the senate to take their place. that is real impact. on the military, readiness around the world. across all the services, and also has a significant impact on military families. because now you re gonna have families that can t move, can t find homes, can t get schools for their kids in time for the fall semester coming up. this is going to have a real impact on military readiness. i would also say, before i finish that, that without these leaders in their jobs, what kind of message does that send to the rest the world? at the time we were just talking about the nato summit and the critical nature of the security environment in europe and elsewhere around the world in the indo-pacific. now, we re gonna talk about military leaders that aren t gonna be in their assignments, at a very dangerous time. this is foolish. and he s playing politics with the military. we asked him those questions, about how it affects military families, and john kirby, thank you for your time t
outreach from the white house. we need leadership in the white house. if i had been the president, i d already called me to the white house and say, coach, what are you doing? this is why we need to get this done. how do we work it out? we have to come to some compromise. but kaitlan, there s got to be conversation, and nobody has even talked to me in five months. this president biden have any plans to call senator tuberville? you think a call with resolve this? i know of no such call on his schedule, kaitlan. and frankly, he doesn t need to get a call from the white house to know that it the wrong thing to hold up more than 250 officers from either achieving higher rank or a new assignment. my goodness, that picture you show just a minute ago, let me tell, you by the end of september, there s gonna be three more empty photo frames on that board on the wall in the pentagon. because officers are going to be timed out of their jobs, they re gonna have to retire, and there won t be
interest of ukraine. but he also believes, there are certain reforms that have to be accomplished, and it s not like ukraine hasn t been working on them. they have. when it comes to anti-corruption, democratic institutions, rule of law, judiciary. those kinds of things, they re still reforms that need to be accomplished that ukraine is gonna need help with. and they re gonna find, again, in the united states, a friend to do that. okay. so, it sounds like it may not be immediate. one decision the u.s. has made recently is to give cluster bombs to ukraine. there is now a bipartisan effort that has been mounting on capitol hill. that is led by a democratic congresswoman, sarah jacobs, to ban essentially, to block the u. s. from being able to provide those to them. i mean, how concerned is the white house about this? because i know you ve got letters from democratic senators as, well urging the administration not to send these cluster munitions to ukraine. what are you saying to them?
