they say thewill hire a chief diversity officer, that there will be a fuel review of all policies involving any students and staff and that they will also make sure to provide additional support for anyone who feels they ve been a victim of discrimination and work on hiring and retention. anderson. areciate it. the graduate student who stopped eating to get his point across john butler joins us along with university student body president paton head. john, you stopped eating last week. i m wondering were you surprised how quickly the president stepped down and now the chancellor? you know, i wouldn t say that i was surprised about the president stepping down and the chancellor. honestly, it should have happened earlier before the hunger strike just because former um system president tim wolfe had a track record since he s been in office of just being negligent and not really performing the key roles of his duty at the um system president.
thank you so much for sharing your story. i really ap(reciate it. thank you for taking the time to have my story shared. so, how are you informed that you were going to be fired? what did the school tell you? basically, i met with the director of schoo&s and the human resources director for the diocese of san diego and they informed me that due to the behavior of my now ex-husband, that i was considered a liability to the school and was no longer allowed to work at ho holy trinity or any other school in the diocese of san diego. just tell us a little bit, bring us back and tell us about the abuse that you suffered at the hands of your ex-husband? there was not just one form of abuse, there were physical instances, but there was mostly the verbal and mental and lots of intimidations. and, so, he s in jail now, right?
just how pleasant the people of pakistan were towards you. was th the case every time you stopped somebody on the street and asked them about the united states? or did you find thet five people for that piece there?ve reporter: everybody answered our questions quite respectfully. the sentiment that was expressed was mixed, of course. the united states faces a very precarious challenge on the ground here in afghanistan. it s a balancing act. they are getting some positive feedback for providing helpwith the aid and with the flood relief, but at the same time, they have to balance that with the very sensitive issue of american boots on the ground here in pakistan. so what we found on ouxejourne y was a mixed bag. and i think that s pretty representative ofha t the pakistani population is feeling. all right. kaj larsen, thanks, areciate it. from international politics to domestic politics. and house nority leader john
