Advice around water safety is being issued
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) is reminding people in Oldham, of the dangers that come with spending time around local waterways.
The plea to ‘take care and stay safe’ comes as people begin to socialise and drink alcohol in venues across the region in line with the Government’s roadmap to ease lockdown restrictions from today, Monday, April 12.
GMFRS’ Head of Prevention, Area Manager Paul Duggan, said: “We want to keep everyone safe as restrictions are eased and people start to safely return to local pubs or bars for a drink with friends.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) is urging residents to use balconies safely and to never BBQ on balconies after two fires already during the recent warm weather.
Firefighters were called to two incidents on balconies last week.
The first saw crews attend a flat on Ludgate Hill, Manchester where a disposable BBQ had been placed directly on to a wooden balcony flooring.
Luckily, the fire was quickly extinguished, and firefighters gave the resident fire safety advice.

Neighbouring fire and rescue services from the north west of England are once again joining forces to help prevent wildfires in their areas.
The reminder about staying safe while enjoying time outdoors and about the devastation moorland fires cause comes from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) as schools break up and the Easter bank holiday weekend approaches.
Both fire and rescue services, and the people of Greater Manchester and Lancashire, remember all too well the destruction caused by moorland fires in the summer of 2018, when large blazes ripped across miles of countryside bringing the areas to a standstill.
