makeup artist Rea Ann Silva had her eureka moment during a class on special effects makeup when the teacher was talking about the uses of varied shaped sponges as tools for the same.
Silva soon began experimenting on different sponge shapes with the aim to create one that could provide the natural seamless application of makeup. She settled on the signature shape of beauty blender sponges – the egg-shaped blender, which also won Allure’s annual Best Beauty Awards seven times. When the lab sent her a neon pink coloured prototype, Silva was overjoyed and decided to go ahead with it.
