Row as Robbie Williams mural painted over on pub where he grew up

The pub was known for years as the one with the England flag. How the mural looked when it was first painted in 2019 (Image: We Are Culla) That changed in 2019 when community group Our Burslem teamed up with Stoke-on-Trent City Council and We Are Culla to transform the exterior of the then empty building. Part of the Mother Town Marvels project, the vibrant mural featured two versions of the Burslem angel, lyrics of Robbie s biggest hit Angels , and information about the pop mega star. Our Burslem founder June Cartwright said she felt sad this week to see that the new owners had started painting over the artwork.

Clough Street, the busy thoroughfare used by pedestrians between the main shopping and dining area in Stoke-on-Trent City Centre and Tesco Extra, has been transformed with colourful murals.
