Appeal for driver of Volkswagen car that interrupted Ardoyne sectarian assault  Police are treating the attack as a sectarian hate crime. 25 May, 2021 14:12 Police are appealing for the driver of a dark coloured Volkswagen car that was believed to have interrupted an attack on an 18-year-old man in north Belfast. Two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with the vicious assault, which police are treating as a sectarian hate crime. The victim was walking in the Ardoyne Road area at around 10.30pm on Saturday night when he was approached by a number of males he did not know. Following a verbal exchange, the young man was assaulted. He later attended hospital for treatment to injuries.

A teenager has been attacked in north Belfast. Police are treating the assault as a sectarian hate crime. An 18-year-old boy was approached by a number of males unknown to him as he walked along Ardoyne Road at around 10.30pm on Saturday, 22 May. A verbal exchange occurred between the group of males and the teenager and after this the teenager was assaulted. The victim attended hospital following the attack. Inspector Reid said: This was a vicious assault which we are treating as a sectarian hate crime.  I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around 11:30pm and witnessed what occurred or who may have captured dashcam or mobile phone footage to call us on 101, quoting reference number 1048 of 23/05/21.

Indoor Hospitality Opens As NI Takes Further Steps Out Of Lockdown Indoor hospitality will officially open today, 24 May, as Northern Ireland takes further steps out of lockdown. Six people from no more than two households will be able to meet in homes and stay overnight. All tourism accommodation will also reopen. Post-wedding and civil partnership receptions can also take place. Elsewhere, over £96million has been allocated by the Finance Minister to support businesses which are the last to reopen and secure jobs. Sinn Féin spokesperson for the Economy Caoimhe Archibald said: This announcement underlines Conor Murphy’s commitment to see businesses through the remaining restrictions to reopening and recovery.
