Kitsap Rifle and Revolver Club has been directed to return nearly $47,000 in state money used to upgrade the club’s shooting range on Seabeck Highway.

A letter from the Washington State Attorney General’s Office demanding repayment says the gun club violated the terms of a state grant called the Firearms and Archery Range Recreation Program. In 2003, the grant program provided $46,965 to improve the firing lines at the shooting range, work that was completed with a final payment issued in February 2009.
