Archbishop Thomas Netto of Thiruvananthapuram has been arrested for his part in a protest against a major business development in the port of Vizhinjam.
The Kerala Police have registered a first information report (FIR) on the Vizhinjam clashes and the Archbishop of the Latin Catholic Diocese, Thomas J. Netto has been named as the first accused.
Archbishop Thomas Netto of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), the capital of the southwestern Indian state of Kerala (map), launched an “indefinite protest” against the state’s Communist-led government for its refusal to address coastal erosion and to assist workers displaced by it.
