The career window for a professional soccer player doesn’t stay open long.
Before Major League Soccer, Philadelphia’s Matt Knowles spent most of his career grinding between the American Professional Soccer League and the National Professional Soccer League, both attempts at re-creating the early success of the NASL and MISL. In the early 1990s, American players bounced around the country from season to season, from baseball fields to astroturf, chasing the dream, which Knowles accomplished for over a decade. Unfortunately, following a string of major injuries, his MLS window closed faster than he would have liked.
Catholic high school hosts COVID vaccine clinic for teachers

Hundreds of local educators received their COVID vaccinations last week at an area Catholic high school, thanks to a collaboration among Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the archdiocesan Office for Catholic Education (OCE), Faith in the Future, the School District of Philadelphia and independent schools.

St Patrick Day is marked with the annual parade in Dublin city centre and religious services across the country.
Large crowds lined Dublin s O’Connell Street for the Saint Patrick s Day parade led by the Lord Mayor Councillor Paddy Dunne in his newly restored coach, last seen in service 40 years ago. The traditional blessing of the shamrock took place and was presented to the city councillors.
Marching bands, floats, community groups, clubs, singers and dancers all took part passing the viewing stand where President Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh was seated. As well as the usual homegrown displays, there was also an international element to the parade including the Kikvorsch band from Holland and many Americans bringing their bi-centenary celebrations to Irish shores. 150 members of the Boston police force took part in the Dublin parade and were led down O’Connell Street by the Garda band. Kutztown University will have 29 student-athletes representing its baseball program for the 2021 season, including freshman catcher Colin Kelly and freshman outfielder Ethan Martini, both graduates of Father Judge.
Kutztown kicked off its season last weekend with two doubleheaders against Frostburg State (Maryland). The Golden Bears went 7-4 in a limited non-conference slate in 2020 before the season was shut down due to the coronavirus. ••
The University of Rhode Island announced the fall 2020 dean’s list. To be included on the dean’s list, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average. Among the members of the dean’s list is Maureen Kennedy. ••
