CALOOCAN CITY, May 15 (PIA) The Quezon City Government is set to roll out COVID-19 vaccines today at its newest mega vaccination site, the Smart Araneta Coliseum, also known as the Big Dome in Cubao.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the Araneta Group has agreed to allow the city the use of its facility until May 21 in line with the city’s goal of rolling out COVID-19 vaccines to priority groups faster.
“We estimate that the Big Dome will be capable of delivering 1,000 to 1,500 COVID shots per day,” said Belmonte.
She added that measures for indoor settings, such as proper filters and fan systems for adequate ventilation, will be installed to ensure the safety of everyone who plan to get their jabs at the facility.

The Smart Araneta Coliseum, also known as the Big Dome, will be Quezon City’s mega vaccination site and will start operating on Saturday, May 15, the local government announced on Thursday.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the Araneta Group has agreed to allow the city to use its facility to help achieve its goal of completing the roll out of the city’s COVID-19 vaccination program to priority groups.
Belmonte said the Big Dome will be able to accommodate 1,000 to 1,500 individuals daily.

“It is a suitable site for a massive and critical government health drive since it offers adequate space and accessibility to both our healthcare workers and the public,” the mayor said. She thanked the Araneta Group for the generous gesture.
