Bahrain continues to unflinchingly support Arab and Islamic issues, including mainly the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem. Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh underlined the Kingdom’s firm stance towards the Palestinian issue and its continuous call on the Israeli government to prevent its forces from attacking worshippers at Al Aqsa Mosque.
He was speaking during an emergency session of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), which convened remotely yesterday at a request by AIPU President Saqr Ghobash, the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates.
The AIPU meeting, held to discuss developments in Jerusalem and the attacks on the Palestinian brethren, was attended by Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit as well as Speakers of Arab parliaments.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and United Nations’ Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland have agreed to intensify contacts to avoid any escalation in Jerusalem or the Gaza Strip.
During their meeting, they discussed ways to advance the peace process and end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Egyptian FM briefed Wennesland on Egypt’s stance and efforts to resume the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations based on the relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the international law.
Shoukry also highlighted Egypt’s efforts, along with Jordan, Germany, and France, to resume the negotiations, voicing Cairo’s concerns over an escalation in East Jerusalem.
