Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency would like to thank the public for their input into creating a safer roading network between L Phillips Road and Pūhoi, which will become an alternative route to SH1 once the new Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway is completed.
Between May and June last year Waka Kotahi consulted the local community, iwi and road user groups on speed limit changes, in an effort to find out what would help save lives, prevent serious injuries and reduce the number of crashes on this stretch of State Highway 1.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises the Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth Motorway Open Day, which had been scheduled to take place this Saturday (20 February), has been postponed, following this afternoon’s announcement that the Auckland region will move to COVID-19 Alert Level 2 from 11.59pm tonight.
One thousand people were expected to attend the event, in addition to project staff. Under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 gatherings are restricted to 100 people or less.

The hottest ticket on offer this summer won’t be to a rock concert or sports event. It will be to walk across one of the huge new viaducts on the Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway, under construction north of Auckland.
The project is holding an open day for the public on Saturday, 20 February, with just 1000 tickets available. The tickets will be free on a first come, first served basis.
