Carlsbad City Councilors approved a zone change Tuesday night allowing a couple to keep a horse on their property.
Property owners Kevin Danos and Jennifer Blank requested a zone change of 0.955 acres at 3204 West Lea Street from Residential 1 District (R-1) to Rural Residential District (R-R), read a memo submitted to councilors by City of Carlsbad Planning Director Jeff Patterson.
The Residential 1 District is intended to accommodate moderate density single-family residential development and to provide land-use protection for areas that develop in such a manner. There is a maximum of one primary residence per lot for R-1 Residential District Zoning, per City of Carlsbad planning regulations.
