Another sign that things may be turning around in the local dining industry: Modern Malt in Armory Square reopens on Wednesday for the first time since before Thanksgiving.
“Things seem to be heading in the right direction, finally,” said Robb Bidwell, a partner in the modern and funky diner with a full cocktail bar at 325 S. Clinton St.
Modern Malt had closed completely last March, during the initial statewide restaurant shutdown ordered by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. It reopened in the summer under the limited indoor dining allowed at the time, but closed up again in November when Cuomo put the city in an orange zone, banning indoor dining.
