track. what do you make of whered aleson is looking at this field right now? from what i understand, steve,ed aleson was going to inform all the candidate gs that he has not picked a favorite. he likes rubio and scott walker but it s april of 2015. when he starts unleashing his millions he s going to have made a choice. i think this time he really wants to pick the winner so he will take his time. that shift thing you re saying picking a winner versus gingrich in 2012. does he look at somebody like ted cruz and say yeah i agree but not electable? cruz is by far the best of
going to win the presidential race. this time they all have a chance, at least many of them do and it s an audition. i think these early polls are meaningless. i think any report that shelden adelson has made up his mind in april of 2015 on who to back is just crazy. that s not happening. i think he does like rubio, but i think he likes some of the governors, especially scott walker. he s not going to make up his mind already even after this audition this weekend. and andy when democrats and specifically hillary clinton look at the field of republicans and they are like you know 1,000 of them which one makes them the most nervous? i think the potential of a governor running. the governors can run against washington, that s a message among voters in a republican primary and general election so looking at someone like scott walker for instance and, of course, jeb bush and looking in those two cases, walker and bush, at the amount of money that they can amass to get through a primary
stuff done in congress let s get bipartisan accomplishments then worry about who s running for president later. that s the way i see it. it s kind of important. i think joe has evolved and matured. it s important but it s april of 2015. and a lot of people are deciding who to get behind. you peer just pushing me to asking you other questions about 2016. yeah thanks. talking to me that way. john meacham here. john has a question. john, be forewarned, he doesn t want to talk about 2016. i get that. [ laughter ] i get that. even down here. . so about 2016 there are substantive issues before us let s talk about those then we can talk about this stuff later. that s the way i see it. congressman i think folks would look at what you re talking about in trade and the president and wondering so what happened to the dysfunctional white house that we hear so much about from republicans? that the president doesn t engage and doesn t have a vision on these issues?
name recognition? i think it s who delivers the best speech michael. it s not that complicated. yes, there s a lot of folks here. but the activists who are in attendance are not at their first rodeo. this is new hampshire. they are professionals. they know what they re looking for and when they re in that ballroom they want to be inspired. they want to hear somebody who is substantive and they want to hear somebody who stands out a little bit from the rest of the field, so i think that, you know for these candidates to do that with a crowd as big as you mentioned, they re going to have to bring their a-games. i think you saw yesterday, you know strong performance by marco rubio. strong performance by jeb bush. and also by chris christie. but it s april of 2015. a lot of the activists in the building across the street from me who are gearing up for day two are not going to be signing up with any of these candidates before, you know, next year.
