Despite a push by conservatives to stand against a swampy, earmark-laden government appropriations package, a whopping 101 House Republicans joined with 185 Democrats to vote in favor of passage, sending the package to the Senate. On the other side of the vote, 112 House Republicans and 22 Democrats voted against the package.
Over $500,000 has been awarded for an affordable housing development in Scarborough for those with physical disabilities. The project is being created by nonprofits 3iHoME and Preservation of Affordable Housing.

The funds are expected to take the buildings “from imminent danger to become viable reuse projects, providing expanded economic, cultural, and community opportunity.”
