It appears that offenders travelled between York and Tadcaster in a vehicle, damaging parked vehicles in various villages as they passed through. Police received reports of damaged vehicles from Copmanthorpe, Bishopthorpe, Appleton Roebuck, Oxton, Colton, and Tadcaster.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said that in the early hours of Thursday May 6, a large number vehicles parked on the roadside had their windscreens smashed and other damage caused totalling thousands of pounds in value.
“It appears that offenders have likely travelled between York and Tadcaster in a vehicle damaging vehicles in various villages as they passed through in a senseless spree of destruction,” said the spokesman.
“Reports of damaged vehicle have been received from Copmanthorpe, Bishopthorpe, Appleton Roebuck, Oxton, Colton, and Tadcaster but it is likely that other vehicles have been damaged that have not yet been discovered by the victims.

Firefighters rescue drivers from flood water FIREFIGHTERS have been called out to flooding at numerous properties across North Yorkshire. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they were called at 9.30am yesterday to Buttercrambe, Malton after flood water got in to the ground floor of a property there. They rescued two adults, two children, two dogs and a cat from the property using a triple extension ladder. At 9.53am they were at Sheepfoot Hill in Malton where a crew attended a call after flooding to a basement of a property, and used a light portable pump. At 10.05am they were at Church Street in Norton pumping flood water and at the same time another crew were at Kirkby Wharfe where there was flooding in the village.
