Man charged with manslaughter in head-on Portland collision

PORTLAND A Hartford man faces second-degree manslaughter and numerous driving-related charges in connection with a fatal crash last November, according to police.
The crash happened on Route 17, Glastonbury Turnpike, near its intersection with Apple Tree Lane on Nov. 5, 2020.
Traci Carey, 51, of Main Street in Portland, was killed when she was hit head-on by a vehicle that crossed the double-yellow line, police said at the time.
The driver of the other car, identified by police as Adam Lopez, was pulled from his burning vehicle by a police officer. Lopez was flown to the hospital, where he was initially in critical condition.

DARIEN - Police are investigating after four vehicles were burglarized and two stolen between May 10 and May 12.
The four burglaries were reported between 6 and 9 a.m. on May 11. Police said the burglaries were of vehicles that were left unlocked.
The first was reported at 6:44 a.m. on Old Oak Road, according to police, with the victim stating that someone entered an unlocked Jeep Compass at some point overnight. A wallet had been taken which contained bank cards and identification, police said, and one of the cards had already been used at a gas station in Stamford earlier that morning.
