STROUDSBURG, Pa. Courthouse Square in downtown Stroudsburg is empty now but come Saturday, tents will be set up and vendors will be in place selling all kinds of things.
The Monroe Farmers Market is back on time and better than ever. May 1 marks the beginning of the regular farm market season for us. We do a number of markets, but it s the first Saturday in Stroudsburg so we are excited, said Brian Bruno, the owner of Apple Ridge Farm near Brodheadsville.
When the Monroe Farmers Market returns to Courthouse Square on May 1, it won’t just be the return of another place to buy produce, meats, baked goods and other locally made foods.
It means the return of a community gathering place, a Saturday morning routine, and the chance to meet vendors who care so much about their regular customers that they might get worried if you don’t come at the usual time.
The market has “incredibly loyal” customers, said Liz Balchin of Four Fields Farm, which sells mushrooms, meat and eggs. She is also the vice president of the market’s board.

Following the success and importance of last year’s season, Easton’s Winter Market will be occurring on a weekly basis for its ninth annual season.
The market, which first opens on Jan. 9 for this season, moved from biweekly to weekly last March due to the COVID pandemic, as shoppers needed fresh food in an open-air atmosphere. The market’s shift to weekly blossomed so much so that the vendors requested that the change be permanent for this season, as they expanded their customer base.
