NEWFANE â Discussion on a proposal for the town to offer anti-bias or diversity training to town employees, town officials and any interested community members will continue but not without debate on its necessity and whether it is in the municipalityâs purview.
âWe will keep this on the agenda as a working item,â Select Board Chairwoman Angela Sanborn said at the board meeting held in person with remote options Monday. âI think itâs an important topic. I donât think we can mandate anyone to do the training. Iâd like to research it more.â

NEWFANE â A store dating back to 1822 has new owners who have come across old relics of the past, including pull tabs for beers, a matchbook for an old agriculture company and a local newspaper ad from the early days announcing sugar would be available at the business.
âTo me, itâs just amazing to be part of the history â to find these artifacts, to make our own,â said David Hull, co-owner of the Newfane Store. âI hope this is something my wife and I do for a while. I could see this being my last gig.â
