or in rural wales or, you know, you might feel very differently. i think there also there s always a risk in characterising public sentiment in those other parts of the country as being completely represented by those parties that come from one side of the spectrum or another. you know, in the same way that you wouldn t say that the conservatives represent everybody in the south of england. that s clearly not true. you wouldn t also say that plaid cymru represents everybody s point of view in wales or the snp represents everybody s point of view on immigration in scotland. so but it was it was an interesting moment nonetheless and just a different texture, right? instead of two parties competing on quite narrow turf, actually a much broader spectrum. and talking about broader spectrum, it s interesting to see nigel farage talking about lots of different things. now, if you ve watched nigel farage in detail that we have over the years, you ve heard him talk about tax and you ve heard hi
in that legislation. you know that mr. marky, because you did a similar thing in the earlier congress. thank you for your leadership. that s an applause line. [giggles] [applause] steve: they need one of those applause lines,. brian: a lot of spending and green energy. steve: not much applausing. brian: on the hook for a lot of it. the guy thinks he can run on it. the guy in the air high wire act without him it wouldn t pass. he did not show up. he feels it s not living up to its hype. steve: he signed it and now we are all stuck with it unfortunately. brian: 14 minutes now after the hour. steve: that s our a block. please clap. [clapping] ainsley: just because you said so i will. steve: thank you. brian: we are meeting the world series champions. spoil alert they are from my
third of the republican party who believe that he hasn t done anything wrong. he was at marquette university this week, 50% of republicans think donald trump even kept classified documents. we have videos of this. trump has admitted it. he has said it. he s not denying it. the party doesn t even believe this. we are watching the steps to this collision where trump is not going to go quietly. he s calling on republicans to fight. the clip that you played yesterday, that was one of the biggest applause lines in his speech yesterday. i want to pivot to his chief challenger, amy. ron desantis and i keep thinking about one of my quotes, good gets better and bad gets worse, and we ve been watching desantis, and i want to put up this tweet from congressman john james, african american republican from michigan where he points his out and says,
he s a baby. whenever you want to criticize him, i mean, in any way, that s the way he responds. and we were sitting in and above the audience during the cnn town hall with mike pence. really got a sense of the reaction as some of those toughest lines against donald trump were delivered. and something to just note, poppy, those were not his strongest, biggest applause lines. we also saw that in his kickoff rally in iowa. that the crowd, some of them, stood up, applauding. others didn t applaud at all and remained seated. so that really underscores the challenge ahead for the former vice president. it says it all, i think, for sure. how much do you run on who you are and what you stand for and how much you run against your former boss? thank you very much. so, ahead in our 7:00 a.m. eastern hour, we ll be joined by
candidates among republicans. so he is going to have to find a way as a messenger to deliver this message saying he is the right candidate for the time to a group of people who don t particularly want to hear what he has to say. bret: guy, is he really good on extemporaneous and on the fly. look back live still talking at town hall seems like it s off the cuff. there haven t been a lot of applause lines. nobody is really enthused, it doesn t seem right there. but it s early in the speech. what about his chances? he is really low in the polls and the former president says why even try? i don t think there has ever been an applause line yet. maybe that s not what he is going for. look, he can be a very effective political communicator. he can be very funny. you don t wins a a pretty conservative guy in a blue state like new jersey with a 60% blowout like he did in his second term without some chops and some talent.
