Plan Bee THREE charities have been given £500 each for their ongoing work within the community. Jack’s Supermarket, on Four Acre Lane, part of the Tesco family, launched its Jack’s Supports scheme to donate proceeds from the sale of carrier bags to local good causes. Usually, four charities are selected to receive £250, and voting units would be placed in store where shoppers could nominate one charity to receive an extra donation. However, as voting in store has closed due to social distancing measures, each selected charity will instead receive an increased donation of £500 to help those whose usual fundraising efforts may have been impacted by the pandemic.
Plan Bee opened their doors on Monday, February 3, 2020. The community coffee shop forms part of Apex charitable trust a charity which has served the community for more than 50 years. Plan Bee coffee shop is a friendly and inviting place, the décor is relaxed and has a Bee theme running throughout. There is a small seating area for people eating in, and once out of lockdown, they will resume their in-house service, however due to current guidelines it is currently takeaway only. There is also an additional room called The Hive where training, workshops, meetings and a Women’s Hub take place.
