In order to overcome the severe shortage of medical oxygen and the problems in transporting it to hospitals amidst the COVID-19 crisis, the government on Sunday accorded an administrative sanction for about ₹310 crore for augmenting the required infrastructure.
According to G.O. Rt. No.214 issued by the Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Anil Kumar Singhal, the funds will be spent on procurement of 50 cryogenic oxygen tanker vehicles, setting up oxygen generation plants at 49 locations, laying 10,000 additional oxygen pipelines and on manpower and material required to undertake repairs to oxygen pipelines for six months.

Police nab six people for selling expired Remdesivir injections

Hyderabad: A group of six people on Monday was arrested by Rachakonda police for selling expired Remdesivir injections.
The accused were Lakkisetty Suresh Kumar, a Grade II pharmacist working in AP Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation; Dr Ganji Shiva Krishna, Chilukuri Venkat, managing partners of Lifecare Hospitals in Uppal; Karra Suresh Kumar, former MD of Akshara Hospital in BN Reddy Colony; T Chiranjeevi of SS Medical Distributors, Warasiguda and Tulasi Srikanth, a realtor.
The accused were changing the labels from the expired ones to a new date. It was found by a relative of a patient undergoing the COVID-19 treatment at a private hospital in Dilsukhnagar.

King George Hospital (KGH) will not only achieve self-sufficiency in meeting its own oxygen requirements but may also be able to supply it to other hospitals in the region, once work on the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) plant is complete.
Work on construction of a shed for the PSA plant, flooring and electrical works for the two oxygen generators, of 1,000 LPM (Litres Per Minute) capacity each, has been completed by the A.P. Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC).
