Superstars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, and composer AR Rahman, among others on Wednesday mourned the death of singer-composer Bappi Lahiri, calling the veteran a “gem” of the Indian music industry.
Composer-singer Bappi Lahiri left for his heavenly abode at the age of 69. His cremation will be held tomorrow, February 17, at Pawan Hans Crematorium. He is survived by two children - a son, Bappa Lahiri and a daughter, Rema Lahiri. Since Bappa is in the US, the family is waiting for his arrival.
Bappi Lahiri, who popularised disco music in Indian cinema in the 80s and 90s, died following multiple health issues on Tuesday night at the CritiCare Hospital in Juhu.
