Blue Bayou trailer for Justin Chon’s forthcoming drama feature, starring Chon and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. The film just had its world premiere yesterday at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. It is currently slated for a theatrical release on September 17.
The video, which you can check out below, features a Korean-born American as his future gets threatened when an unjust police arrest leads to him discovering that the government wants to deport him back to South Korea despite living in America for all of his life. He has no choice but to legally fight the flawed system in order to be able to stay with his wife and daughter.

From a distance, Justin Chon’s “Blue Bayou” seems to be a movie that would warrant comparison to Lee Isaac Chung’s Oscar-nominated “Minari” – the story of a young Korean man and his family struggling to get by in the U.S., and also to figure out his own identity in a land that sometimes feels like home and sometimes feels hostile.
