Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany will depart the club on June 30 to pursue a new “professional project”.
Alemany has held the role at Barcelona since March 2021 following Joan Laporta’s election as club president and was responsible for overseeing transfer operations during a testing financial period for the club.
The 60-year-old’s contract with Barcelona was set to run until 2024 but he has informed Laporta of his intention to leave early and pursue a new opportunity.
Despite formally departing the club at the end of June, Alemany has promised to complete.
Man Utd are fastracking talks for a £70m Liverpool target, Tottenham are readying a huge double swoop on Barcelona, while Arsenal want a €50m Brazilian ace.
