RINGGOLD, Va. â The Cherrystone Missionary Baptist Association in Ringgold held the areaâs third large-scale vaccine clinic and the first held in Pittsylvania County on Saturday, where more than 700 residents received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
Through a partnership between the Virginia Department of Health, Sovah Health, Averett University, Danville Community College, 16 vaccinators provided vaccines for those who pre-registered from 12 p.m to 5 p.m.
To increase accessibility for those most at risk, including those in rural areas and in black communities, where COVID-19 has had most impact, Pittsylvania Danville Health Director Dr. Scott Spillmann said Saturdayâs event was an effort to bridge the gap in access.
