We are six games into the shortened season and the Canadiens finished off their first road tour in style, by collecting five out of six possible points against the Vancouver Canucks. Tyler Toffoli had a terrific time against his former teammates and scored five goals in just two games. The week ended with him being awarded NHL’s First Star of the Week – not a bad start for the former Los Angeles Kings’ forward.
Toffoli and the Canadiens will now try to keep their momentum when they, after a five night rest, face the Calgary Flames two times over the next three nights.

The World Junior Championships are all wrapped up, ending with Team USA’s winning their fifth ever gold medal. Jared Book, Patrik Bexell and Anton Rasegård conjoin do discuss how the three players from the Montreal Canadiens performed in regards to our previous expectations. Who has impressed us the most during this two-week span?
One thing was certain, one Canadiens prospect would return from Alberta with a gold medal in a firm grasp. In the end, Cole Caufield won the in-game duel between the first rounders against Kaiden Guhle and ended his national junior career in the best possible way.

The showdown of the goalies. When Sweden decided to give draft eligible Jesper Wallstedt his first start of his World Juniors career, all goaltender lovers must have began to salivate. A game where they could watch both Yaroslav Askarov and Wallstedt simultaneously? Oh yes, come to mama.
Both goaltenders are considered generational talents and the clear positional leaders of their respective draft classes. Tonight, it took 37 seconds before one of them seemed to have lost his possibility of a shutout.
Physical captain Vasili Podkolzin drove the puck toward the goal and pushed himself past Edmonton Oilers’ prodigy Philip Broberg, who gave up way too much room in front of Wallstedt. Rodion Amirov found the rebound and backhanded it into the net. However, Podkolzin had disturbed the Swedish goaltender enough in the crease to warrant a further review of the situation. In the end, the referres stuck to their initial call. The goal was disallowed
