Gannett Foundation awards $57,500 to St. Louis nonprofit

Austin Huguelet Springfield News-Leader A St. Louis nonprofit working to give disadvantaged young people a stronger voice in their communities and public policy is getting a $57,500 boost from the charitable arm of The Examiner s parent company. Creative Reaction Lab is one of 16 organizations nationwide receiving more than $25,000 from the Gannett Foundation’s “A Community Thrives” program this year. Three groups in Eastern Jackson County are getting grants as well. A Community Thrives is in its fourth year supporting nonprofits across the country. The grants are meant to help organizations addressing social issues such as education, housing, the arts and the environment.

The program is in its fourth year supporting nonprofits across the country. In 2019, Springfield-based Care to Learn was among the national grant recipients, with a $25,000 award.
