The publisher of the Khmer 7 January newspaper was place in pre-trial detention in Siem Reap province on charges of spreading false news about a well-known businessman and Oknha.
The 50-year-old publisher, Lim Hour, said in a Facebook post that Ly Yong Phat – a well-known businessman in Thailand and Cambodia – had died on April 20, 2021 from unknown causes.
The honorific Oknha was bestowed upon Yong Phat by Royal Decree on August 28, 1998.
