Justice Govind Mathur has retired as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
Originally from Rajasthan High Court, Justice Mathur was transferred to the Allahabad High Court in November 2017. He served as a Chief Justice of the High Court for a little over two years.
In this short span, Justice Mathur made his mark as a fearless defender of personal liberty and human rights. In his farewell speech delivered yesterday in a virtual function, Chief Justice Mathur said that he was inspired by the ideals of Dr BR Ambedkar, with whom he incidentally shares his birthday.

Soldiers from both sides are injured, ANI reported.
Reports said that Chinese soldiers tried to cross the border but were challenged by Indian soldiers, resulting in a violent physical clash.
While around 20 Chinese soldiers were injured in the clash, four Indian Army soldiers reportedly sustained injuries, India Today reported.
The Indian soldiers successfully managed to push back China despite hostile weather conditions in North Sikkim, it said.

Prayagraj: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has informed the Allahabad High Court that it has filed a petition before the Supreme Court, seeking the transfer of all the writ petitions, related to the recent ordinance against religious conversion, from the High Court to the Supreme Court for adjudication.
Additional advocate general, Manish Goyal, representing the state government, informed the court during the hearing of a bunch of writ petitions against the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020.
