After the bill’s revision, it now includes prohibiting governments and companies headquartered in certain countries from owning and purchasing Texas property.
Senate Bill 147 was approved by Texas lawmakers Tuesday afternoon. The legislation is a watered-down version of the original proposal, which would have banned citizens of China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from buying land and homes in Texas.
The bill would prohibit the sale of Texas land to citizens and businesses with connections to China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia. The bill will now move to the Senate floor for a vote.
