Anthony Vineyards is a prominent grower and shipper of California table grapes in both the Coachella Valley and Bakersfield, CA, where it’s headquartered. The company farms more than 9,000 acres of conventional and organic produce, and specializes in popular niche varieties.
The company is seeing a pretty good crop with the early San Joaquin Grape estimations, expecting to start between June 24-26, with the first grapes coming out of the shoot being the Flame seedless, followed by the Sugarone grapes around July 5.
“If everything stays relatively normal with the weather, we should be meeting those target dates,” said John Harley, vice president of sales and marketing for the company. “The crop overall is looking very nice. Great quality. There’s plenty of fruit as far as cultural practices that we implement dropping bunches, thinning the crop and that kind of stuff we can select the higher-level quality that’s been produced on the vines.”
USDA purchases over $12M of grapes from seven California suppliers

The USDA has announced that it recently purchased over $12 million of fresh table grapes from seven California suppliers for distribution to the child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs.
The $12.7 million purchase is the result of offers received in response to a solicitation dated May 11, 2021.
The materials were purchased on an f.o.b. destination basis. Deliveries are to be made from May 31 through July 28.
The listed suppliers are Anthony Vineyards, Fruta Royal, King Fresh Produce, Sunlight International Sales, Tastyfrutti International, Tudor Ranch, and Wescott Agriproducts.

Robert Bobby Bianco, co-owner of Anthony Vineyards, passes away
Robert O. “Bobby” Bianco, co-owner of Anthony Vineyards, passed away on Saturday, March 6th, 2021, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA. In passing, Bobby joins his recently deceased wife, Harlene.
Bobby was born March 16, 1942 in The Bronx, New York, to Anthony and Rosa Bianco. Bobby attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a concentration in Finance in 1965.
Bobby moved to Indian Wells, CA along with his wife, Harlene, in 1969. From the desert they built a family and a business, Anthony Vineyards. For more than 50 years, Bobby and his brother, Domenick T. “Cookie” Bianco worked side-by-side to create, build and maintain Anthony Vineyards with Bobby overseeing the Coachella Valley operations and Cookie overseeing the Bakersfield, CA portion.
